IMMEDIATE Support Needed for 15 LGBT Immigrants - Casa Ruby, Wash. DC
Empowerment Justice Center has an urgent need from our churches and faith communities to address a crisis at Casa Ruby in the District of Columbia. On Thursday, February 28, Casa Ruby in collaboration with the Empowerment Justice Center (EJC) and Empowerment Liberation Cathedral (one of our Potomac Association churches in formation) was asked to take responsibility from ICE Homeland Security 15 LGBT immigrants. We are requesting assistance from your congregations to address the need for food, clothing and shelter to stabilize these 15 immigrants.

Our Reflections
This week, at a special session of its General Conference, the United Methodist
Church voted in favor of the ‘Traditional plan’ to uphold banning ordained clergy
from LGBTQ communities as well as prohibiting marriage equality.
