Registration for Children’s Program (K through grade 6, through 12 years)
Child Care (6 months through Pre-K)
during General Synod 2017 in Baltimore, MD
The Central Atlantic Conference Local Arrangements Committee is pleased to provide an engaging and educational program for infants and children as noted above joining their parents and guardians for General Synod 2017.
Sessions will be held in the Baltimore Convention Center. These programs will be held during all plenaries, worship services (except Sunday afternoon), workshops, and committee/business meetings. The Children’s Program will include some offsite field trips. We will also provide a space for nursing mothers.
FEES, STAFF AND SCHEDULE
The fee is $5.00 per child per session, due upon submission of the registration form. Snacks will be provided during sessions but children will be picked up prior to meals.
Our program will open 30 minutes prior to scheduled sessions and will close 30 minutes after. Parents/guardians are expected to drop off and pick up their children within these times. Children will only be released to designated people, who will be required to show photo ID.
All child care and children’s program staff and volunteers have been screened in compliance with the Central Atlantic Conference United Church of Christ Safe Church Policy.
A detailed schedule, including field trip information, will be sent to registered families when it becomes available and upon receipt of your registration form and payment. Please understand that all children must be registered by _________________. [There will be an opportunity to register during the onsite registration at General Synod.] We are committed to maintaining a ratio of no less than 1 adult for every 7 children aged four and older and no less than 1 adult for every 4 children under age four. In order to provide sufficient adult caregivers, unregistered children [may have to be] will likely be turned away.
CHILD CARE/CHILDREN’S PROGRAM
In our sessions we will provide a variety of interactive presentations, performances and play time. We will focus on the theme “Make Glad” and will help the children to discover how we make glad the holy places where God dwells. (Psalm 46:4). We are recruiting presenters to share from various communities such as Native Americans, farm families, musicians, etc. Preliminary plans for field trips include Fort McHenry National Monument and the Baltimore School for the Arts. We acknowledge that some children may need a break from the continual stimulation of General Synod, being away from home, etc. and we plan to offer an “Opt-Out Corner” to allow a “quiet” option.
