Rev. Denise Mason Bullitt hired as Interim Conference Minister

December 12, 2016

It is with a truly grateful heart that I bring you the joyous news that the Executive Committee has approved the hire of our new Interim Conference Minister, Rev. Denise Mason Bullitt.

Rev. Bullitt started her ministry in the Central Atlantic Conference and has family in Heritage UCC in Baltimore.  She attended Lancaster Seminary and holds her Masters of Divinity from Howard University. For the last 16 years, Rev. Bullitt has served as lead pastor of the Community of Reconciliation Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In addition to her parish work, she has served on the National Staff of the UCC, as the Minister for Church Life and Leadership.  Rev. Bullitt is committed to interfaith and justice work, serving on Interfaith Councils for Chatham College, University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.  She has also served as Adjunct Faculty for Religious Studies at The Neighborhood Academy, a private high school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

We are blessed to have Rev. Bullitt as our Interim Conference Minister. Her formal start date will be Tuesday, January 17th, 2017.  Rev. Sheldon Culver’s end date will be January 24th, 2017.  This will give Rev. Bullitt and Rev. Culver ample time to smoothly transition the change in office.

Thank you for your support over the last five months.  It has not been an easy time for the CAC, but each of you contributed to keeping us focused forward.  There was much work to do (and still to do) and you have each stepped up in your own way to help.  The CAC is blessed to have your faithful support and exemplary leadership.
