Shenandoah
The Shenandoah Association considers themselves a family, one they are happy to welcome new members into as they commune in friendship, worship, and faith. These congregations of faithful servants are clustered along Route 81, stretching from the northwest border of Virginia down to its southwestern border. The twenty congregations that call this idyllic landscape home are individual in character but united in Spirit. Its churches are found in hollers and cities and share a tight bond to one another, attending to one another in the truest form of covenant.. The committed servants that lead on the association council and on the Committee on Ministry are fervent in their desire to support churches large and small, carrying forward a legacy of steadfast faith to God through all seasons.

Committee on Ministry: The Committee on Ministry (COM) is the authorizing body for the Shenandoah Association, overseeing the discernment, formation, and authorization of ministers on behalf of the wider church. Those seeking authorization in the Shenandoah Association may pursue one of two primary pathways:
1. Member in Discernment (MID)
This pathway is for individuals discerning a call to ordained ministry within the United Church of Christ. The process includes a formal covenant partnership with a local congregation and the Committee on Ministry, as well as ongoing formation, assessment, and preparation for ministry.
2. Lay Ministerial Standing (LMS)
This pathway is for lay persons called to serve in a specific ministry or church setting where authorized clergy are not available. Lay Ministerial Standing is a covenantal, time-limited authorization with accountability, supervision, and support from the Committee on Ministry.
For more information about either pathway or the process to become an authorized minister of the UCC, please contact Rev. Karen Mann, Committee on Ministry Chairperson for the Shenandoah Association, via email at karen@sojourners-ucc.org.
